Gratituesday: My Holman Family
My Holman Family,
I’m writing the first Gratituesday post to you because there are close to a hundred of you who I feel compelled to thank. Whenever I have the chance to, I brag about our company. Specifically, I brag about how we take care of each other when it really matters, like right now. When I interviewed in 2015 and walked the halls for the first time I felt the energy that makes our company a family and it felt like home. This note is my gratitude for the hundreds of moments I’ve shared with you and for the love I’m feeling from you all every day.
When I say “you,” it may be someone specific or a group of people, but overall, you means the collective you.
When my symptoms presented at the office, you got me the help I needed
You came with me to the ER and stayed with me until my parents and brother could take over
When I was in the ICU, you visited
The night before my first surgery, you shared your meditation mantra with me
You made sure they were getting me enough coffee in the hospital
You built relationships with my parents and comforted them
You make it easy to navigate our benefits package and get the most out of them
You filled my car with cards and gifts, serviced it, and hand-delivered it to my home
You visited me at home over the holidays and helped me celebrate
You filled a Holman backpack with some of my favorite things, warm wishes and a whole lot of generosity
You offer your time and talents to me if I’m in need of just about anything
You keep in touch, and you share this story with me
Together you’re treating me how you’d like to be treated
We’ve all heard before that it’s important to find an employer that treats you like family. We’re lucky to know and feel how awesome it is to be part of a family that’s also your employer.
Above all, when it was clear that I needed some time to put my health first, you made it easy for me to focus on my health and recovery.
The way you have taken care of me through this ordeal is exemplary-- and I hope the world takes notice of the Holman Way.
Be well, be together & thank you so so much,
Chris
